Elaine Stocki Opening at Thomas Erben Gallery in New York

Please join Gallery Artist Elaine Stocki for her first solo exhibition at Thomas Erben Gallery in New York on May 29th.

"There is something decidedly strange about the imagery of Elaine Stocki. Her large silver gelatin prints are firmly rooted in American photography traditions, but hand-coloring, a decisive formal vocabulary, a juxtaposition of the documentary and the constructed – as well as subject matters veering toward the surreal – make them difficult to pin down, in time as well as in space." - Excerpt from Thomas Erben Gallery Press Release

Opening Reception: May 29th, 2014, 6-8:30pm, Thomas Erben Gallery
Exhibition Dates: May 29th - June 28th, 2014
Location: Thomas Erben Gallery, 526 West 26th Street, Floor 4, New York, NY, 10001

Gallery Artist Elaine Stocki Interviewed on Uncompromising Tang

" I’m interested in making objects, and that’s true whether I’m painting or photographing. When I’ve done photography I’ve always developed the film, worked in the darkroom, etc. and I stopped photographing for a while to paint because I wasn’t able to do those things (and I had previously painted in undergrad but wasn’t able to do that when I went to grad school). I was craving the feeling of making something." - Elaine Stocki

Toronto Film Scene Interviews Gallery Artist Jaret Belliveau

"After working with Jaret Belliveau on the 2011 doc Highway Gospel, Bauckman was looking for the subject of his next film. With Belliveau, the friends decided to tell Elliot’s story. However, the young filmmakers did not quite know what they were getting into. The revealing and ridiculously funny doc, which took three years to make, won an award at Slamdance, is heading to Cannes in May and is currently making its mark at Hot Docs." - Jordan Adler

Gallery Artist William Eakin Contact Exhibition at Project Gallery

Exhibition Dates: May 8– 15, 2013
Opening Reception: Thurs. May 8, 7-11 pm
Location: Project Gallery, 1109 Queen St E, Toronto M4M 1K7

"Winnipeg, once a great city, now reflects its own pale image. Apartment blocks erected by new immigrants in the first half of the 20th century still proliferate the city, landmarks of a vanished, forward-looking time. Their signs, bearing enthusiastic fonts, gaily drawn images and the names of long gone wives and children, remind us of the Winnipeg's sunny past. 'Brightview' honours the optimism of these signs.  Z'r0  ushers them into the 21st century via four contemporary visual interpretations by William Eakin, Cliff Eyland, Craig Love and Leala Hewak." - Excerpt from Contact website

Stephen Bulger Gallery at Papier 2014

Pushing Paper in Quebec

"There is, yes, a delicious provincialism to holding a works on paper fair in Quebec; doubly so because both paper and Quebec are provinces that aspire, correctly, to something greater. It is in this vein that the Stephen Bulger Gallery, strategically positioned at the front of the fair’s central corridor, presented a collection of prints from Henri Cartier-Bresson’s two-month trip through Quebec in 1965." - Mostafa Heddaya
