THERE WILL BE BLOOD

Dir. Paul Thomas Anderson (USA: 2007), 158 min.

At the turn of the 20th century, in the Southern Californian desert, down-and-out silver miner Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis) transforms himself into a self-made oil tycoon. The film is a story of family, ambition, greed and tragedy, loosely based on Upton Siclaire’s 1927 novel Oil!.

The film has received significant critical praise including Academy Awards for Best Actor and Best Cinematography. The film was chosen as the best film of the first decade of the 21st century by many critics, and ranked in their “top ten” lists for the year.
