Application Deadline: March 1, 2013

Program Information

Faculty: Sarah Anne Johnson
Guests: Graeme Patterson, Jeff Whetstone, Additional guests to be announced

I want to spend time in my studio in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Sarah Anne Johnson invites artists to The Banff Centre to make, create and debate with a group of like-minded individuals in the stunning location of the Canadian Rockies.

Open to all artistic disciplines, participants will be encouraged to spend time in the studio and take advantage of the Visual Arts department’s excellent facilities in photography, sculpture, printmaking, papermaking, ceramics, textiles, painting and drawing, sound and video.

Another World in the Studio is without an overarching theme or time-consuming program. Instead it offers generous studio time to make art, experiment with ideas and media, read books and articles, or write. There will be two intensive group critique sessions as well as individual studio visits with Sarah Anne Johnson and invited guests.

In addition, participants will be able to explore the world outside the studio, and discover on their own time the rest of The Banff Centre and Banff National Park. Possibilities include hiking, climbing, and cycling, attending concerts, readings and performances, soaking in the hot springs, or starting impromptu dance parties.
