Four-time Academy Award winner Clint Eastwood directed and starred as Josey Wale, a Missouri farmer whose family is brutally murdered by a sadistic Union soldier in the days near the end of the Civil War. Driven by vengeance, Josey joins a Confederate guerrilla unit and finds the soldier who killed his family and burned his home. The movie was deemed “culturally, historical, or aesthetical significant” by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
