Meatballs
is a comedy starring Bill Murray as Tripper, the head counselor of the
low-end summer camp Camp Northstar. The summer leads up too the annual
two-day Olympiad competition in which Camp Northstar competes against
the wealthier and more athletic campers of Camp Mohawk in events
including hot dog eating, cup stacking, potato-sack racing and the final
cross-country run. Directed by Ivan Reitman, Meatballs is responsible
for launching Reitman’s distinguished career of financially successful
comedies including Strips (1981) and Ghostbusters (1984).
