film adaptation of the 1947 play of the same name, A Streetcar Named
Desire is a romantic drama about Blanche DuBois, a neurotic women
seeking someplace in the world to call her own. The film is set in the
French Quarter of New Orleans during the years following the Second
World War. It was the first film to win three out of four acting
categories at the Academy Awards, including best actress, best
supporting actor and best supporting actress.
