REMINDER! FREE SATURDAY SCREENINGS at CAMERA

September 24, 3:00 PM

THE ICICLE THIEF

Dir. Maurizio Nichetti (Italy: 1990), 90 min. The director, played by Maurizio Nichetti himself, is invited to a TV studio to introduce his best known film, “Ladri di saponette,” a pun on the neo realist film by De Sica, “The Bicycle Thief”. Once the film starts, the situation deteriorates into horror for the director. His black and white tale of the hardships of poverty is constantly interrupted by loud and vulgar blasts of colour commercial advertisements. These gradually take over the screening to the dismay of the director and the apathy of the audience.
