Vera Frenkel's String Games

In 1974, Vera Frenkel assembled a group of artists to participate in her exploration of real-time video transmission at the then-new Bell Canada Teleconferencing Studios in Toronto and Montreal. Giving her experiment an improvisational structure of open-ended iteration, she chose the cat’s cradle finger string game as the mode of orchestrated movement in service of a constantly transforming whole.
