This is a Canadian film based in 1896 about three whalers who become stranded in the Canadian Arctic North who seek refuge with an Eskimo tribe. The film portrays the conflict between Canadian Aboriginal Peoples’ traditional way of life in conflict with Europeans’ eagerness to take advantage of them by introducing gambling, alcohol and theft.
